About the Chapter

When We Formed
The Azalea Coast NC #6031 Chapter of USA Dance formed in 1992 in Wilmington, North Carolina. Originally it was known as the Azalea Coast Ballroom Dancers, a chapter of the United State Amateur Ballroom Dance Association (USABDA). The chapter adopted the current name when USABDA became USA Dance, Inc.

Area Served
Centered in the historic port city of Wilmington, the Azalea Coast NC Chapter serves the southeastern region of NC, which includes five counties: New Hanover, Pender, Brunswick , Columbus, and Onslow.

Past Educational, Charitable & Outreach Efforts
Educational Activities: Wounded Warriors Appreciation Ball™, Dance Workshop Weekend, support of local UNCW Ballroom Dance Club, consultation to support formation of local high school ballroom clubs, and contributions to the NC State University Formation Team.

Outreach Efforts: NC Azalea Festival, Wilmington’s Riverfest, “Dancing Under the Stars” as part of Airlie Garden Concert Series, participation in Wilmington Choral Society presentations, and demonstrations at local nursing homes and retirement communities.

Charitable Events: Affair of the Heart Ball, American Cancer Society Ball, and Wounded Warriors Appreciation Ball (our chapter originated this event and was awarded the 2009-2010 National Chapter of the Year by USA Dance, Inc. for our presentation of the inaugural ball).
